Dear First Church of God Family, <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" />
I have recently made the exciting decision to serve as the Campus Ministry Intern for the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at Radford University. The BCM at RU is a student-led Christian organization which aims to reach students for Christ; builds Christian community; equips students for leadership & ministry; and serves actively in missions. It is led by a student Leadership Team, under the guidance of the Baptist Collegiate Minister, Jennifer Mullins, and with the assistance of the Campus Ministry Intern. I have been asked to serve as this Campus Ministry Intern from August, 2013 thru May, 2014—a total of 9 months.
RU's BCM is for ALL students–regardless of background—meaning you do not have to be Baptist. ALL are welcome as we are joined together in the love and spirit of Christ! The RU BCM is a family of Christian students from all denominational backgrounds. It is a ministry dedicated to reaching my generation and equipping us to reach the world for Christ thru discipleship and missions. I cannot think of a better way to spend my time than sharing the Gospel with others and seeing my life changed as well as the Campus Ministry Intern.
The Campus Ministry Intern position is not a paid position and requires me to raise my own support as is commonly done in this type of ministry role. I have taken on a small part-time job to raise a fraction of my support. However, the internship requires my primary focus of time and energy. In order to focus on the ministry needs and relationships; and other responsibilities of the position, I cannot over-invest in an outside job. Therefore, I need to raise the primary part of my support which amounts to $4,000.00 to help cover my living expenses. This $4,000 will help cover accommodations, utilities, food, gas, as well as any Baptist Collegiate Ministry and/or Virginia Baptist Mission Board events within the nine month internship.
I cannot accomplish this task alone, so I am asking you to be part of this ministry endeavor with me. During the next several weeks, I will be working very hard to raise the finances to support me through this internship. Any amount that you can give will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to support me in this opportunity, you may send a one-time check, or you may choose to make a monthly commitment. It would be beneficial for me to raise the $4,000 in installments as I will be serving from August 2013 to May 2014. An ideal breakdown is for me to raise $1,000 each quarter marked by October 31; January 1; March 1; and a final $1,000 by May 15. This means half ($2,000) would be raised by January 1st. This will enable me to have support throughout the internship time frame. Please send your checks to: 7041 Autumn Wood Lane, Roanoke, VA, 24019. An acknowledgement of your gift for tax purposes can also be provided upon request.
Your support is a key part of seeing more young adult college students get connected with Jesus Christ and a key part of my own development as a minister of the Gospel. If you have any questions, please call me at 540-556-5334 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also reach the Baptist Collegiate Minister, Jennifer Mullins at 540-320-6009. A full description of the internship position is also enclosed with this letter.
Thank you for your consideration. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated!
